EAST RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL ENGINE BUILDING CLASS TO COMPETE IN THE HOT RODDERS OF TOMORROW COMPETITION IN LAS VEGAS
By Cathy Harwood
On October 29, 2011 the two East Ridge High school engine builder teams will board an airplane headed for Las Vegas, NV. We are proud to have both of the southeast region teams that qualified in the regional finals to compete at the SEMA event on November 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The awards ceremonies will be on November 4th. There are a total of 10 teams that have the opportunity to compete in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competitions. Each team consists of 5 kids from ages 14-18. Our hopes for these East Ridge High School teams are to come home with 1st and 2nd place wins. The 1st place winners in this timed engine build competition will receive $10,000 scholarships with all participants coming home with a minimum of $5,000 per child to go towards continuing their educations.
None of this would be possible without the hard work of each and every one of these kids and the coaches, as well as the support of our East Ridge community and surrounding areas including The East Ridge Merchants Association, E.R. Education Committee, E.R. Lions Club, East Ridge Ruritan Club, ER Masonic Lodge, Superior Creek Lodge and The City of East Ridge as well as Many other sponsors that have helped make this trip of a lifetime for these boys and girls a reality.
We at East Ridge High School would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one that has helped us along the way.
